What is Speed Meth?

What Is Speed Meth? Speed meth is a form of methamphetamine, a central nervous system stimulant drug with serious long-term health repercussions. Produced using easily available chemicals and sold illegally, methamphetamine comes in several forms such as crystal meth (ice), base and powder that can be consumed either snorted, swallowed or injected; when taken by injection its effects can be felt within several minutes while for ingestion and snorting/oral ingestion it may take up to 20 minutes before the user experiences an intense rush of adrenalin-type feelings.

Methamphetamine use increases the risk of addiction due to its ability to block dopamine reuptake in brain cells, leading to high levels of this neurotransmitter being released into circulation and leading to feelings of euphoria for users who take meth for extended periods. Overtime however, meth amphetamine use becomes even more addictive as prolonged dopamine surges become extremely pleasurable and hard to quit altogether.

Meth use can cause numerous risks, from increased risk-taking behaviors and reduced inhibitions, to mood swings, anxiety and paranoia. Long-term meth usage has been known to stifle or stunt younger users' growth as well as leave the mouth with sores that are hard-to-heal, stained teeth or an unpleasant odor in addition to hard-to-heal sores, hardened gums or an unpleasant odor lingering behind - not forgetting heart damage, kidney problems as well as high body temperatures causing confusion or uncontrollable jerking movements of body parts.
